COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

MAYNE ISLAND EARLY CHILDHOOD SOCIETY

At the heart of any thriving community are the programs that nurture its youngest members and support the families raising them. The Mayne Island Early Childhood Society (MIECS) is a cornerstone of our island, providing vital, high-quality early childhood education, family resources, and inclusive community programming tailored specifically to coastal island life.

What Makes MIECS Essential to Mayne Island:

  • Early Learning & Care: Operating programs like the Mayne Island Early Learning Centre, MIECS offers licensed, compassionate childcare and preschool routines that give local children a strong, play-based foundation before they head off to kindergarten.
  • Family Support & Connection: Beyond early education, the society serves as a hub for parents and caregivers. From drop-in playgroups to parent education resources, they create meaningful opportunities for local families to connect, share experiences, and build lasting community bonds.
  • Island-Tailored Programming: Understanding the unique dynamics of living on Mayne, MIECS actively collaborates with local artisans, nature educators, and community groups to integrate outdoor exploration, creative arts, and island culture directly into their daily activities.
  • Inclusive & Accessible: Dedicated to ensuring every child on the island has access to supportive care, the society continuously works to provide affordable, accessible, and welcoming environments for all families.

Whether you're a new parent looking for a welcoming local group, a family settling on the island, or a community member wanting to support local non-profit initiatives, the Mayne Island Early Childhood Society is a shining example of neighborly care in action.
