Blue Vista Resort is a family-run cottage resort at 563 Arbutus Drive on Mayne Island, BC, a short walk from Bennett Bay. It has nine fully furnished housekeeping cottages under the firs and cedars, with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Each cottage has a kitchen, linens, cable TV and Wi-Fi, and guests share picnic, barbecue and lawn areas plus a children's play centre. The rocky Bennett Bay shoreline is just across the lane, and the family-friendly Bennett Bay beach and Gulf Islands National Park Reserve are about a ten-minute stroll away. A few cottages welcome dogs by prior arrangement (small, well-trained dogs only, with a nightly fee). The resort is open year round, which makes it a good base for a quiet winter getaway as well as a summer beach holiday. Check-in is 4 pm and check-out is 11 am, with a two-night minimum on weekends. The cottages sit steps from the water, with cart service and luggage help from the parking area, while the one-bedroom villas have panoramic views and the two-bedroom waterview villas include a wheelchair-accessible unit. Inn rooms are in the historic Mayne Inn, built in 1912, with glass doors opening onto decks. The inn also houses the Leisure Centre, with an indoor pool, steam room, jacuzzi and gym. For meals, The Arbutus Grill is the on-site restaurant, and La Maison Rouge is a take-out cafe for baked goods, breakfast, espresso and soft-serve. Their home sits on a sunny, wooded one-acre lot about a five-minute walk from Gallagher Bay and eight minutes from the shallow beach at Piggott Bay. Choose the Cedar or Douglas Fir rooms, each with a queen bed and a semi-private bathroom, or the Big Leaf Maple family room, which has a private bathroom and entrance and sleeps up to four. A homemade breakfast is included, and dietary needs can be accommodated on request. Afterwards, relax in the hot tub, on the big deck or around the patio fire table.
